After I got your email I called my mom up to get some details. I wish I could have information regarding William O but I don't. I remember when I was a kid the talk had been that my grandfather's side of the family came from Ireland. I remember them mentioning that the actual last name was Baird but when they came to the US it was changed to Beard. I don't know how much of that is true. Just so you know I found a web site called Genealogy.com. I was looking through the Beards. I found that 2 years ago somebody posted that they had a picture of a young child and written on the back of the picture was the name Mrs Sam Beard from Cornwall PA. I tried to email this person but the email bounced back. I decided to post on the Beard message board asking if anybody had any information about William O Beard or that picture. One can only hope that we will get a response from it. Now for the information that I can help you with. Let me first say its funny because there was a time in Cornwall that everybody knew who the Beards were. So it sort of surprised me that your father being on the Cornwall council didn't know some of this information that I am going to provide to you. As you know Samuel Beard married Mary Beard Samuel & Mary had 4 sons Frank E George H (My grandfather) DOB 12/08/1892 Died 05/03/1974 He was 81 when he died Charles R Roy W. George H married Hattie Dietz (they lived in Burd Coleman) (Burd Coleman was at one time made up of Beards and Dietz's and they were all related in some way) I forgot to ask my mother about when my grandparents were married. They had 6 children Robert Franklin (deceased) married Anna George William (deceased) married Grace Wenrich (deceased) James Russell (deceased)married Phyllis Dinardis Kenneth Richard married Sally Ritz (deceased) Erla Rose (My mom) married Paul W. My grandfather worked at the Cornwall Mines. I'm not sure if his brothers did as well. I think maybe Roy did.
