Obituary: R. Glenn Fellenbaum, a retired mechanic and racing enthusiast who lived at 309 New Haven Drive, Lititz, died Tuesday afternoon at his home after a six-month illness. He was 69.
He was the husband of Elizabeth Y. "Toot" Ober Fellenbaum, with whom he marked their 47th wedding anniversary on June 24.
Fellenbaum worked for the past two years at Manheim Auto Auction.
Between 1986 and 1990, he was a warehouseman for Shirlee Manufacturing, New Holland.
He had been a mechanic for 18 years for Wenger Implement Inc. at the Buck, retiring in 1985. Fellenbaum also did general farming at the Dr. Henry W. Huffnagle farm at the Buck for 19 years.
For more than 30 years he followed the Micro-Sprint Racing Circuit. Fellenbaum was a member of Linda's Speedway, Jonestown, and also helped to work with security there for two years.
He was also a lifetime member of Lanco Micro-Midget Auto Racing Club, Brickerville, and a member of the Checkered Flag Fan Club.
Fellenbaum was a private first class in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, serving after World War II.
He was a member of Lampeter Church of the Brethren, where he had been head usher at one time.
He also enjoyed hunting.
Born in Rapho Township, he was the son of the late Clyde S. and Edna D. Hilton Fellenbaum.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Sharon S.
Harnish, at home; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; five brothers: Robert H., Washington Boro; Clyde A., Conestoga; Fred A., East Petersburg; Daniel H., Lititz; and Marlin J., Leola; and four sisters: Evelyn H. Good, Columbia; Alta H., wife of Charles Correll, Lewes, Del.; Ida Grace, wife of Amos Sands, Elizabethtown; and Edna Blanche, wife of Alvin Bauman, Millersville.
